Austin's Famous Mexican Martini Is Taking Over SXSW

March 11, 2016

This drink proves that tipsy and classy pair well in Texas. The Lone Star state is known for having some of the most unbelievable delicacies in the country and this refreshing, mixed beverage is no exception. Austin's Mexican Martini has tequila, Cointreau, orange juice, lime juice, and a secret ingredient (psst...watch the video below.) Shake up this southwestern speciality all festival long this year at SXSW.

We like the Mexican Martini because it's Texas tradition to keep the shaker on-hand so your glass will stay filled ten concerts into the first day. To make the signature Mexican Martini, pour two ounces of silver tequila into an ice-filled shaker, add an ounce of Cointreau, 2 ounces of orange juice, fresh lime juice, half an ounce of olive juice and shake. Pour the drink into a martini glass with a salted rim, add a little sprite and top it all off with a jalapeno-stuffed olive. Enjoy!

Drinking can get expensive, especially at a festival, so bringing your own drinks and making them there is definitely the way to get a classy buzz without breaking the bank. But if you forget to pack the booze, don't break into the mini-bar just yet! Check out this guide to drinking for free at SXSW 2016.
