If you have a sweet tooth, we're sure you'll be every bit as happy as we were to hear this news from health journal 'Heart': eating chocolate every day could be good for your heart. Researchers studied about 20,000 individuals over a twelve-year period, and found that among those who ate between 16 and 100 grams of chocolate a day, only 12 percent developed or died of cardiovascular disease, compared to 17.4 percent in the rest of the study's population!

The researchers are careful to point out that this correlation doesn't necessarily prove that chocolate improves cardiovascular health, but it's a start. Scientists are now studying the effects of polyphenols (compounds in cocoa beans) to see if they might be a possible source of benefits of chocolate consumption. They are developing a capsule delivery method for the polyphenols, which sounds like it would take all the fun out of it, so we'll stick to eating chocolate, and we recommend you too. Only in moderation though!
