Break-ups are never easy. When you think you’ve found “the one” it can be devastating for both partners when one of them reveals the heartbreaking truth. While some relationships end up cultivating easy-going friendships, others can result in the awakening of a completely unhinged side of a person you thought you once knew. Here, people share the most outrageous reactions from their ex that turned out to be a psychopath.
All stories have been edited for clarity.
Baby Momma

“After I broke up with my ex-girlfriend, she showed me just how crazy she was.
One day while the break up was still fresh, she sent me a picture of a positive pregnancy test. That’s when a string of desperate text messages came in.
In the texts, my ex-girlfriend told me I couldn’t leave her and that I was the father of the baby she was carrying.
Honestly, I was scared because at the time we were way too young to have kids. My ex, however, did not seem to care and kept saying, ‘It’s you! You’re the father of my baby!’
My ex even threatened to put me on child support if I didn’t ‘step up’ and take her back.
After having a few heart attacks, I later found out the photo she sent was fake because I saved the picture onto my phone and uploaded it to my computer. After doing an image search, I immediately saw the original source.
I then went on Google and searched ‘positive pregnancy tests.’ On the very first page was the exact same picture. I sent my ex the link to the picture and waited for her response. Within seconds, my ex sent a tirade of rage-filled text messages saying she wanted me to die in an accident.
After that, she slashed my tires.
Luckily, I had a warranty on them so I wasn’t all too upset.”
What’s Mine Is Yours

“My ex and I had been living together for two years before I broke things off. Things just weren’t going well between us and I finally put my big boy pants on and ended our relationship. When it happened, she was visibly upset but said that she wanted to move out the same day.
‘Ok,’ I thought. ‘Hasta la vista!’
My ex-girlfriend then said she just wanted her clothes, the big TV from the living room, and her kitchen stuff. She moved out the following weekend and took them with no issues.
Three weeks later, I came home from work, opened the door to the apartment, and nearly had a heart attack.
My apartment had been stripped completely bare. Everything was just gone.
I was so stunned I even checked the apartment number because I thought I might have opened the wrong door. Unfortunately, I was not mistaken. My ex returned like a thief in the night and took everything.
All she left were my clothes and my fish tank.
That day I learned to always change the locks when after a breakup!”
Lunch Date

“My ex was deaf. While we were still dating, she moved in with me because her mom kicked her out.
After some time, I ended up losing interest in her and told her we had to break things off.
Obviously, I let her stay at my place until she found somewhere to go.
One day she asked me if I wanted some food. I remember being a little stunned at her random act of kindness, but couldn’t turn down a free meal.
‘Yeah! That sounds good,’ I said.
My ex-girlfriend disappeared in the kitchen and came back a short while later with a seemingly innocent plate of food.
What I didn’t know, was that she add a deadly secret ingredient.
My ex put her medication in it. Never in a million years did I think she would ever try to poison me.
I spent two weeks bedridden. I became so violently ill that I thought was going to die. The craziest part was she was super normal before the stunt she pulled.
My ex may have been a little clingy, but I never considered it a big deal.”
Can I Be Honest?

“I broke up with my ex-boyfriend because I told him I was falling for another guy.
To be frank, I wasn’t even pursuing the guy I was falling for. I just felt guilty for having feelings for someone else aside from my bf, so I thought I was doing the right thing by being upfront about it.
Being naive as I was, I told my ex the name of the guy I liked as I broke things off. I was surprised when he took it well. Very well, in fact.
The next morning, I woke up to my Facebook notifications blowing up.
As it turned out, my ex-boyfriend somehow hacked my profile and created numerous statuses saying how I liked the guy I told him about. He made multiple statuses in my name that said I left him for the guy I had feelings for and tagged him in each one. My ex also messaged the other guy numerous times saying that I loved him and I wanted to marry him.
I remember feeling so confused and extremely embarrassed because everyone on my Facebook suddenly knew how I felt about the other guy.
To this day, I’ve never talked to my ex or the other guy since.”
My Gift To You

“My ex-girlfriend from college and I broke up while we were driving home from a lunch date.
When I pulled up to her house, she refused to get out of my car. It was a narrow road and people were quickly lining up behind us, so I started driving around the block over and over while we argued about why our relationship wasn’t working.
Because she wouldn’t leave the vehicle, I continued driving around and ended up back on the interstate. While we argued, I was driving at a rage-induced ninety miles per hour.
Without warning, my ex snatched the one thousand dollar Tiffany necklace that I bought her a few months prior from around her neck and threw it out the window. The necklace ended up flying right into the wheels of a semi-truck.
This made me extremely angry because I was a simple lifeguard at the time and made little money. I knew right then and there that I had to get her out of the car because I never wanted to see her again.
When we got back to her house, I got out of my own car and had a friend pick me up.
A few days later when she was out somewhere, I had my friend swing by and pick up my car.
We haven’t seen or spoken to my ex-girlfriend since.”
