16 Unbelievable Foods And Drinks Deep-Fried In Texas

The Texas State Fair is the largest in the country. The fair has a competition every year for the most unique deep-fried foods. Here are some of the unbelievable delicacies that this contest has created.

Bubble Gum

It’s not an actual solid piece of bubble gum but a bubble gum flavored marshmallow. It is rolled in a batter, and then sprinkled with Chicklets. I’m not sure how the chewiness of the gum works with the crunchy deep-fried exterior, but I can’t imagine loving it.

Peanut Butter Banana Cheeseburger

A grilled half pound patty of beef that is topped with cheese and banana slices and peanut butter spread over both buns. Sometimes called the Elvis Burger in honor of the most famous peanut butter and banana lover in history, this take on the combo may not be so healthy on the heart.

Beer

Normally you hear of food in a beer batter – this is beer that is battered. Beer is poured into ravioli pockets and deep fried. Careful with that first bite – beer does come out hot!

Bacon

Just in case you ever wanted to make bacon even more unhealthy, why not deep fry it? Bacon slices get coated with a batter. They are then deep fried just like a chicken fried steak.

Jelly Beans

These are jelly beans rolled in a batter. It appears a spoonful of the batter is then deep fried, giving several jelly beans per bite. Appearance is colorful but much like an apple fritter.

Butter

Can you imagine anything more unhealthy than deep-fried butter!? Butter is frozen into shape of a ball. Rolled balls are then battered and deep fried. Wonder if they ‘melt’ in your mouth?

They don’t just use pizza ingredients in this deep fried treat. It is an actual slice of pizza that is breaded and then deep fried. Assuming the pizza slice is fully cooked prior to breading.

French Fry Coated Dog

This is a hot dog rolled in a batter. With the batter coating it is then rolled into bed of french fries. The french fries, sticking to the batter, then allows it to be deep fried.

By making a creamy custard with milk, sugar and cookies, you can get a mixture that can be sliced into sections. Dipping the sections in an egg wash and then rolling them in bread crumbs, they can be deep fried. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and dribbled chocolate sauce after frying.

Kool Aid

This isn’t actually the liquid that gets fried. Much like a doughnut hole, the batter is flavored with Kool Aid. The flavored batter is then deep fried in bit size balls.

Sriracha Balls

Not only is Sriracha sauce put into the balls, they are dipped again in to it when finished frying. Inside the balls with the Sriracha sauce is; chicken, green chiles, tomatoes, corn and tortilla chips. Do not eat if you can’t take the heat!

Sweet Tea

Take sweet tea and make into a thick custard. You then take a portion, roll it in graham cracker crumbs and deep fry. When they come out of fryer, drizzle them with a sweet tea syrup.

Pop Tart

This deep-fried sweet treat is most definitely the worst way to start your day. Not only are the frosted breakfast snacks deep fried, but they are also topped with whipped cream and Fruity Pebbles.

Amazeballs

These consist of chocolate cake and bacon. Making a ball shape they get deep fried. When finished frying, dust them with powdered sugar and drizzle over them either chocolate sauce, maple syrup or both.
