You’re probably used to cotton candy just being a fluffy pink blob of sugar air on a stick, but in China, it’s been elevated to an art form. In the Chinese town of Ciqikou, street vendors turn traditional cotton candy into large, multi-colored flowers. And not only is the end product gorgeous, but the process they use to make the cotton candy is mesmerizingly beautiful.

The cotton candy makers utilize different colored sugars to add layers of color to the sweet treat. Getting the layers just right requires constant rotation, and once complete, they use a stick to pinch in segments to make the layer resemble petals of a flower.
