  • 11 Timeless Reasons Diners Will Never Go Out Of Style

Everyone knows that going to a diner is a whole different experience from just going out to a restaurant. Some may think that diners are a thing of the past, but from the food to the atmosphere, they are still providing people with the best eating experiences around.

    Jukeboxes

Jukeboxes and late nights go together like hash and diners. Each diner can denote their style not only with style of the jukebox, but also in the selection. If your diner's jukebox still uses 45's that is all the street cred it will ever need. Some will feature doo wop and other's will reflect 1970's southern rock. The more obscure the tunes, the better the diner.

    Open 24/7

To have all the favorite comfort food down on the corner at all times of the night and day means that memories are always available. Diners also make great deserts available at all times of the day and night. Pie for breakfast is so awesome.

    Diner Food

For all that should be said for a diner’s atmosphere, it’s the food that really keeps us coming back. Each region of the country has their own diner favorites, but to be able to have a giant stack of pancakes at 9 o'clock at night is a universally awesome experience.

    Booths

Booths give the customer the ability to celebrate occasions or absolutely scarf down the great food in private. They are also great for talking with families and friends while enjoying great comfort food and coffee or milkshakes. Booths reflect the combined ambience of all diners no matter where they are located.

    Hospitality

Having the same waitress for decades is like having a babysitter sometimes. Waiters and waitresses in diners are just so much more personable than at other restaurants. Small things like well-placed smiles or nods are very comforting on hard days and nights.

    Movie Depictions

“When Harry Met Sally” is the quintessential diner movie, but romantic movies do not own diners in movies. The famous melodrama “Heat” is heavily set in a diner, as well as, the famous movie “Groundhog Day.” A diner is the most often used device in gritty movies and dramas alike. In addition, many videos feature diner scenes of various sorts.

    Customer Diversity

In America, diners have become a meeting place likened to pubs in England. Because of this, the diversity of America can be seen in its diner patrons. In many ways, diner fare is quintessential American food.

    Tradition

Every family has that place that they meet when there are special occasions or memorable events. This can be in celebration or in mourning. Graduations and proms all start or end with a visit to that special diner. Because of this, diners have become a part of many families and friends traditions and familial history.

    History

Not only are diners a part of the history of their patrons, but they almost awlays come with their own unique and interesting story. Since diners aren’t commercialized, they are nearly always started by a person with a passion for cooking good food and offering a comfortable environment. The history of the place just makes the experience that much better.

    Inexpensive

It is important that diners are priced a certain way in order to be accessible to a wider array of patrons. The prices allow these patrons to eat at diners multiple times in a week or a day. The selection also offers certain menu items that are hearty and cheap. This is how chili became a classic diner food, being one of those cheap, hearty dishes that is on most diner menus.

    Unique Style

Diners reflect not only particular cities, but particular neighborhoods as well. This means that they can be as unique as the neighborhoods and areas that they represent. East coast diners are different from west coast diners. Midwest diners like to reflect the culture and areas that they serve, and southwestern diners do also.
