The holiday season is a time for being with those you love and for entertaining. What better way to share time with loved ones than sharing a Christmas drink. From traditional egg nog and hot cocoa to cocktails with a kick, here some of the most festive holiday-inspired drinks to share on a wintry evening.

    Traditional Egg Nog

Nothing screams Christmas louder than egg nog. This basic recipe contains an egg, 1 tablespoon of superfine sugar, milk, and of course, booze. Either brandy or light rum works well here. Add a whisper of nutmeg to the top and voila — you’ll be in the holiday spirit in no time!

    Christmas Spirit

This yummy cocktail lives up to its name. Made with crushed cranberries, crushed clementines, sugar, a stick of cinnamon, and vodka, this is a fruity treat sure to please.

    Cranberry Kamikaze

While we're thinking of cranberries (and who doesn't during the holidays?), this is a funky twist on the original cocktail. Made with orange liqueur, cranberry juice, lime juice, and vodka, served well-chilled in a pretty cocktail glass.

    Homemade Baileys

Entertaining on a budget? Made with sweetened condensed milk, chocolate extract (or chocolate syrup) eggs and Irish whiskey, this is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth, at a fraction of the cost of the real thing.

    Burnt Island Mocha Hummer

This may be the easiest cocktail on the list. Made with only three ingredients — Kahula, creme de cacao, and vanilla ice cream — this drink still stands out from the crowd.

    Christmas Punch

Everyone remembers traditional Christmas Punch, made with 7-UP, champagne, lime sherbet, and fruit slices. It's a bubbly, festive drink that can also be made without the alcohol for your younger guest.

    Hot Buttered Rum

This rich beverage will warm you to your toes. Made with golden rum, brown sugar, cider, and a stick of butter, this one is not for the calories conscious.

    Amaretto Liqueur

If you've liked making your own Irish Creme, why not try your hand at homemade Amaretto Liqueur? The recipe is a bit complex, but the result is well worth it. And again, the money you save can go for a that special Christmas present you've had your eye on for yourself.

    Butterscotch Cacao

Even the name will make your mouth water. Mix Butterscotch Schnapps, Coffee Liqueur, and Hot Cocoa for this warm, tasty treat.

    Candy Cane Cocktail

This is the perfect holiday cocktail, made with watermelon puree, pomegranate juice, cherry gelatin, and peppermint liqueur, will warm up any gathering.

    Chocolate Mint Oreo Drink

A grown-up version of "cookies and milk," this creamy drink is a blend of vanilla ice cream, Oreo cookies, Andes Creme de Menthe candies, and white creme de cacao.

    Hoppel Poppel

This is a wonderful warm egg nog treat. Beat egg yolks and sugar until foamy and light. Add hot milk, a dash of vanilla, and top off with desired amount of rum (optional, of course — it’s delicious without, too!). Stir and serve in mugs.

    Holiday Cider

This is a decorative slow cooker cider recipe, garnished with cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. This is a great drink for entertaining.

    Caramel Apple Milkshakes

Who doesn't love a thick and rich milkshake? This delectable recipe tastes more fattening than it really is because it's made with frozen yogurt instead of ice cream.

    Cinnamon Coffee

This spicy coffee great for evening entertaining, but it's also a perfect Christmas morning coffee.

    Classic Hot Cocoa

Who can resist a big, warm mug of hot cocoa? Made with cocoa powder, cinnamon, milk, and sweetened with real sugar, this is the classic winter treat. So, drink up!

    Apple Brandy Ricky

Made with only 4 ingredients — apple brandy, lime juice, carbonated water, and a lime wedge, serve this up in a highball glass and enjoy.

Slow and Hot Spiced Cherry Cider

If slow cooker beverages are your thing, try this one. Made with only apple cider, cinnamon sticks and cherry gelatin, it's a slow, sticky treat for all ages.

    1776 Rum Punch

Made with 4 parts dark rum, 2 parts lime juice, 1 part maple syrup, and a splash of grenadine, this punch packs a punch!

    Blame It On The Night

Made with vodka, passoa, grenadine and orange juice, it'll be up to up to decide exactly what "it" is at the end of the night.

    Grand Rum Toddy

This hot drink will be sure to be accompanied with that warm fuzzy feeling that comes with the holidays. With a base of 1.5 oz of rum and .75 oz of orange liqueur, fill the rest of a glass mug with hot water and sweeten to taste with simple syrup. Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!
