  • 13 Dangerously Salty Meals To Avoid At These Famous Chain Restaurants

    by Kelsey Stoskopf

Do you love going out to eat? Whether your go-to spot is McDonald's or Olive Garden, restaurants and fast food places all have one thing in common. They pack their meals full of sodium. Even salads you may see as a healthy option can contain over 2,500 milligrams of sodium! It has gotten so bad that New York is now requiring restaurants to put a salt shaker next to items with ridiculously high sodium!

    Chili’s Texas Cheese Fries

These cheese fries definitely look mouth-watering, but that drool comes with a price. Topped with loads of cheese, bacon and jalapenos, it has nearly 5,000 milligrams of sodium. Wow!

    Burger King Ultimate Breakfast Platter

A plate full of pancakes, eggs, hash browns, sausage and a biscuit is bound to have a heaping amount of calories. This full platter is not only packed with calories, but it has over 3,000 milligrams of sodium too!

Applebee’s Grilled Shrimp N’ Spinach Salad

A salad is healthy right? While this grilled shrimp and spinach salad may seem like the best option on the menu it has 1,000 calories and 3,000 milligrams of sodium hidden inside it.

TGI Friday’s New York Cheddar And Bacon Burger

This juicy burger topped with bacon and cheddar cheese may look appetizing, but its 4,280 milligrams of sodium is a little off-putting. Homemade burgers might be your best bet if you’re really craving a juicy burger.

    Denny’s Lumberjack Slam

Like the Burger King breakfast platter, the Lumberjack Slam from Denny’s is a plate full of hearty breakfast foods and loads of sodium. With a little over 4,000 milligrams of sodium you may want to opt for a different option.

    Chipotle Chicken Burrito Bowl

Sure the burrito bowl is a little healthier then the infant-sized burritos Chipotle offers. But a chicken burrito bowl topped with brown rice, cheese, black beans, lettuce, salsa and sour cream has almost 2,000 milligrams. That’s close to your recommended intake for the day all in one meal!

    Subway Footlong Turkey Italiano Melt

Subway has prided itself with being a weight loss tool, but this Turkey Italiano Melt may not be the best choice. It has nearly 3,000 milligrams of sodium and 1,000 calories. Wow!

    Arby’s Mozzarella Sticks

Of course fried cheese sticks dipped in yummy sauces may not be the healthiest choice to begin with but it doesn’t help that these sticks have 2,500 milligrams of sodium in only 6 sticks!

    Panera Frontega Chicken Panini

A panini with grilled chicken and a few veggies can’t be that bad right? Wrong. It has over 2,000 milligrams of sodium! No thank you!

McDonald’s Premium Grilled Chicken Bacon Clubhouse Sandwich

Oh McDonald’s. The quick and easy place to go. But even its grilled chicken sandwiches aren’t the best for you! This grilled chicken sandwich has 1,750 milligrams of sodium. Although not as high as others, that’s over half your recommended daily intake.

Red Lobster Crispy Calamari And Vegetables

This meal could have been healthier if the calamari and veggies weren’t fried and drenched in sauces. It seems we now live in a society where frying your veggies is the only way to eat them. With 4,280 milligrams of sodium, this meal is definitely one to avoid.

    Quizno’s Large Ultimate Turkey Club

A turkey club may seem like a healthy option, but sometimes healthy options at fast food restaurants are packed with sodium too. This large Ultimate Turkey Club from Quiznos packs over 5,800 milligrams of sodium into on sandwich!! That’s over double of the recommended daily intake.

    Olive Garden Chicken Parmigiana

Who doesn’t love Olive Garden? From a plate full of carbs to those addicting breadsticks, you just can’t get enough. While it certainly is delicious, be wary of the calories and sodium packed dishes they serve. The Chicken Parmigiana has 1,050 calories and 3,000 milligrams of sodium!
