French toast is delicious all on its own, but with the addition of Ube butter, it goes into foodgasm territory. Ube is a purple yam commonly used in Filipino dishes and is popular throughout Asia, but it’s only been in recent years that chefs and bakers in the West have taken notice of this delightful, lilac-colored ingredient. You can get a taste of this tasty breakfast item from Barkada, a new Filipino Tapas joint in LA. You can only get it during Saturday brunch, though, so make sure to plan your trip accordingly.
