The U.S. is finally lifting its ban on Kinder Surprise, more commonly known as Kinder Eggs, a chocolate treat that contains a toy.
Kinder Eggs are available all over the world but have been banned in the U.S. since 1938 by the Food and Drug Administration for fear of choking hazards. Kinder Eggs are chocolate eggs which contain a plastic capsule inside. When you eat the chocolate and open the plastic container within, there is a toy.
The FDA has taken the Kinder Egg ban seriously, and in 2012 U.S. Customs and Border Patrol issued a statement urging travelers not to bring the chocolate treats into the country. “These chocolate treats may be cute and seasonal,” the statement read, “but they are too dangerous to children to be imported into the U.S.”
But starting Black Friday, the ban has been lifted.

To make the treat safe, the ban only applies to Kinder Joys. Kinder Joys are sold as two separately sealed items to prevent a potential choking hazard — one side will be the chocolate, one will be the toy.

Kinder Joys will be available at Walmart this Black Friday.
