Using tea bags is a natural way to boost your garden’s health since they contain nitrogen, a key component of fertilizer. Nitrogen is a structural element of chlorophyll and one of the building blocks of amino acids, which support and sustain plant structure. They even help repel pests and have anti-fungal properties. If you don’t garden, tea bags can still be utilized outside in a compost pile, which is much eco-friendlier than simply discarding them.

Tea bags can also help improve soil structure. They are a great way to lower the ph and increase acidity for certain plants too, like azaleas, rhododendrons, roses, ferns, blueberries, strawberries. Simply cut open the bag, then mix the leaves into the soil. One more pro tip: tea leaves can help combat unpleasant garden odors as well!
