The sweet treat for any brunch, French toast requires few ingredients to make and the end result is absolutely delicious. While a basic French toast is very flavorful in its own right, there is so much you can do with the dish to expand on it and really make it something incredible. Once you master how to make French toast, you’ll be on your way to eating restaurant-quality food right in the comfort of your own home!

    1. Beat the eggs into a shallow pan. Add the milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg and mix well.
    2. Place your bread slices in the egg mixture and give them a good coating. Make sure you coat both sides evenly.
    3. Place a frying pan over medium heat and coat it with butter or oil.
    4. Cook your bread slices, flipping so that both sides have a nice brown color.
    5. Put your cooked bread slices on a plate and top them off with some whipped cream.

    Spice Up Your French Toast

French toast is a simple and flavorful dish to make but there are ways to expand upon it and make it a truly incredible breakfast dish. Stuffed french toast or adding various toppings can take a little more preparation but the payoff is absolutely worth it.

    What You Need:

    • 1 loaf of unsliced bread (you’ll need to slice it yourself)
    • 2 eggs
    • A third of a cup of milk
    • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
    • ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
    • ½ teaspoon of nutmeg
    • Whipped cream
    • Icing sugar

    How To Make It

    1. Beat your eggs into a shallow pan. Add the milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and mix them together.
    2. Cut a 2-inch slice of bread off your loaf.
    3. With a small paring knife, cut a small hole into the side of the bread and cut about halfway into the slice of bread., twisting the knife to create a small pocket. You don’t want to cut all the way through or else your bread won’t be able to hold the filling.
    4. Take your whipped cream and fill the bread until it’s oozing out the top of the hole. If you want to create an even more textured filling, try mixing some whipped cream and ricotta together and then use a piping bag to fill the bread.
    5. Place your bread in the egg mixture and coat the bread. Make sure you coat both sides evenly as well as all the edges of the bread.
    6. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and coat it with oil or butter.
    7. Cook the bread, making sure both sides and the edges get a nice brown color.
    8. Place the toast on a plate and dust the toast with icing sugar.

    Toppings And Finishing Touches

Whipped cream and icing sugar are simple ways to top your French toast but other good toppings could include chocolate chips, a slice of butter, maple syrup or coconut shavings. If you take the time to make some compote, you’ll have a very sweet fruit topping that will make your French toast as complete as possible.

French toast is a simple treat to make for breakfast or brunch and there’s lots of room for creativity with this dish. If you’re one who has a sweet tooth for morning food, be sure to try playing around with French toast and find what fits your style!
