Avocado toast seems so simple that it doesn’t need explaining, yet there are so many variations out there to try that go far beyond spreading an avocado on a piece of toast. People love avocado toast so much because it’s healthy, tasty and many versions only take five minutes to make. Avocado is also a great alternative to traditional breakfast staples such as butter or jam, which makes it a healthy option for breakfast. We scoured the internet for some of the best open-face avocado toast recipes out there, from the the basics to the more complex creations:

Avocados are full of nutrients such as potassium, fiber and vitamins. They are high in protein and heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, which makes them a favorite superfood for many health-conscious individuals. Studies have shown that avocados can lower your cholesterol levels and risk of heart disease.

This traditional avocado toast recipe is a go-to for an excellent breakfast or healthy snack. Eat it on the go or enjoy it with a good cup of coffee. Just toast some slices of your favorite bread (rye, wheat and sourdough are great options). Pit and peel one avocado and, using a fork, mash and spread it onto the toast until one side of the bread is covered. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and any other preferred spices to taste and dig in.

“Moroccan Guacamole” Toast With Fried Egg

This recipe places rich and gooey avocado and fried eggs on top of the crunchy toast for a delicious juxtaposition of taste. For this recipe, the thicker the bread is, the better — you need a strong, stable base that won’t become soggy or bend under the weight of the toppings, especially if your egg is cooked over-easy.

    Garlic Bread Avocado Toast

Two words: garlic bread. You can make your own garlic bread by adding a mixture of garlic cloves and melted butter to French or Italian bread, or just simply purchase some from the store. Add avocado to it, and you’ve got the ultimate comfort food recipe that’s both easy and delicious.

    Mango Avocado Toast

    Autumn Avocado Toast

Despite its name, this avocado toast recipe can be enjoyed year-round. Its sweet, nutty flavors combined with creamy, crumbly gorgonzola cheese are a delicious pairing that will enhance any morning. Just top your avocado toast with walnuts and a thinly sliced pear or apple and sprinkle with cinnamon, honey and gorgonzola and chow down.

    Avocado Tuna Melt

Though tuna and avocado might seem like an unusual combination, this avocado tuna melt is a delicious and an excellent protein-packed choice for lunch or hearty breakfast. Though it might contain a few more ingredients and steps to prepare than most avocado toast recipes, the result is well worth the work.
