    Why Artichokes?

Artichokes are thistle buds from the daisy family and though they may have a tough exterior, they have a sweet quality that can be paired with a variety of dishes. With a meaty underside that becomes buttery soft when cooked, artichokes offer a leafy, slightly tart flavor, but is just as mild as celery or asparagus. The pickled variety is most commonly used in dips, however, raw types, such as the green globe variety, are also ideal as a main course or to accompany as a side dish.

Spinach artichoke dip is a classic recipe that has deep roots in America dating back to the 1950s and was often eaten as a convenient, easy-to-prepare main dish. Although there are many variations of the food, it’s tangy artichoke flavor paired with the fresh taste of spinach and zesty cheese takes center stage. The dip can be easily paired alongside with bread, a plethora of raw vegetables, crackers, tortilla chips and is high in nutrients. Today, the snack is a popular starter found in many restaurants and homes alike, but you can make it your own by following these simple ingredients and steps.
