The cosmopolitan is a famous drink that has been ordered by parties in bars for years. It’s hard to think of something that the cosmopolitan can’t offer drinkers; there’s the sweetness of lime juice and cranberry cocktail, a bit of alcohol, and a fun pink hue that adds to the charm. Though, you don’t need to start a tab when you want a cosmo because all you need to do is shake one up on your own. Get the cocktail shaker and your muscles ready so you can make your own summer drink with ease.

    What You’ll Need

    • 2 oz vodka
    • 1/4 oz of lime juice
    • 3/4 oz of cranberry juice cocktail
    • 1/4 oz of triple sec
    • 1 cup of ice
    • 1 orange twist for garnish

    Steps

    • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the vodka, lime juice, triple sec, and cranberry juice.
    • Cover the shaker and shake for about 20 – 25 seconds until the shaker becomes cold on the outside.
    • Strain the drink into a martini glass and garnish with orange twist.

    Additional Ingredients

You can garnish your cosmopolitan with different peels if you want to add a different citric twist; consider keeping the lime theme going by adding a lime twist or wheel to your cocktail.

Vodka can make or break a classic cocktail and for the cosmopolitan, you can totally mix up the flavors of vodka that you use. Some people enjoy using lemon vodka, which works well with a drink that already has multiple twists of citrus. Additionally, since you already have an orange twist to garnish the drink you can stick with that flavor by splashing in some orange vodka.

Whether you’re someone who fell in love with the cosmopolitan from Sex and the City or it’s always been your poison in bars, you can make this traditional summer cocktail on your own. Keep your money in your wallet, bring the ladies over, and make a batch of cosmos for you and your friends.
