Forget Starbucks: How To Make A Delicious Latte At Home

There is nothing better during cold autumn and winter days than sipping on a hot latte. But if lattes are your go-to drink, buying one every chilly morning can quickly become expensive. To save some cash and avoid that lengthy line for coffee, try skipping that Starbucks line and make your own latte.

    How to Make a Latte

Some people might look at a frothy, milky latte and think they can’t replicate it at home without fancy brewing equipment such as a French Press. But making your own latte can be a feat easily achieved with nothing more than common kitchen utensils — a whisk, a liquid measuring cup and a mug.

    Ingredients:

    • Espresso or strongly brewed coffee
    • ½ cup milk

    Instructions:

    • Pour the milk into a glass measuring cup and heat it in the microwave for 30-45 seconds
    • Whisk the milk quickly until a froth begins to form
    • Pour the milk into your mug
    • Brew coffee and slowly pour it into the mug over the milk

    Adding Flavors

The best part about lattes is all the flavors they can have — caramel, hazelnut, vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon, mint and the seasonal favorite pumpkin spice. For most of these flavorings, all you need to do is add some flavored coffee creamer to your milk and coffee mix. For some, like chocolate, cinnamon or mint, you can add the flavor through garnishes of cocoa powder, cinnamon or mint leaves. Play around with the recipe and ratios until you find the perfect balance of flavor for your latte.
