    How To Make Surprisingly Delicious Watermelon Jerky

    Plant-based foods are having a moment, especially when it comes to watermelon jerky. You’re sure to love our vegan version of a classic snack. Read on for our easy sweet and spicy watermelon jerky recipe, with only three ingredients!

    Ingredients

    • 1 large ripe watermelon (organic preferred)
    • 1 lime
    • ½ tbsp cayenne pepper (less for more mild flavor)

    What You’ll Need

    • dehydrator
    • cutting board
    • measuring cups
    • citrus juicer
    • Chef’s knife

    Step #1: Slice Is Nice

    Carefully slice watermelon into about one inch slices, then remove rind. Further slice the 1 inch pieces into about ¼ inch pieces. Optionally remove seeds from watermelon. Set aside.

    Step #2: Lime Time

    Cut lime in half, then manually juice in citrus juicer.

    Step #3: Winning Trio

    Place watermelon slices in dehydrator. Top with lime juice and cayenne pepper. Chili powder or your favorite spicy blend would work here as well.

    Step #4: Jerk-ify

    Dry at 125 degrees for 20 hours. Remove and enjoy this healthy, vegan, plant-based snack. It’s what summer dreams are made of!
