What You’ll Need
- measuring cups
- medium saucepan, with lid
- colander
- paper towel
- paring knife
- small mixing bowl
- fork
- serving platter
- spoon
Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tsp white or rice vinegar
- 1/2 tsp yellow mustard
- 1/2 tsp dijon mustard
- pinch of salt
- cracked black pepper
- paprika, for garnish
- chives, for garnish
Instructions
Step #1: Hard Boiled
Fill saucepan half way with water. Carefully place eggs in water, making sure there’s at least an inch of water above eggs. Heat on high until water boils, then cover and lower heat to low, cooking for one minute. Remove from heat, keeping covered, for 13 more minutes.
Step #2: Rapid Rinse
Rinse eggs under cold water for about one minute in colander. Crack and peel under the running water. Pat dry with paper towel.
Step #3: Fantastic Filling
Cut eggs in half lengthwise, then remove yolks. Place egg whites on platter for serving. In mixing bowl, mash the yolks into a crumble with the fork. Combine mayo, vinegar, salt, pepper, and mustards in same bowl, and mix thoroughly. Carefully spoon mixture into egg whites, dividing evenly.
Step #4: Great Garnishes
Garnish by sprinkling with paprika, and adding fresh chives on top. Serve and enjoy immediately.
Variations
Avocado Deviled Eggs
To enjoy the green deliciousness of avocado deviled eggs, simply follow steps 1 and 2 of our classic recipe. Then, peel, pit and dice one medium-sized ripe avocado. Add to bowl with mayo, s&p, mustards, and vinegar, and 4 of 6 egg yolks. Discard the other two egg yolks. As above, mash and mix filling until evenly combined, and carefully spoon into egg whites. Garnish with fresh herb of your choosing; we prefer cilantro. Serve, and dig in.
Bacon Deviled Eggs
For smoky bacon deviled eggs, follow our basic recipe and simply tweak the filling and garnish. Add 2 slices of crispy cooked bacon (or turkey bacon for healthier option) and 1 tbsp diced green onions into the egg yolk mixture explained in recipe above. Once combined, place filling in egg whites, then garnish with more crumbled bacon and finely diced green onion. Yum!
Mexican-Inspired Deviled Eggs
This south of the border twist on our classic recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser! Adjust the filling by adding 1/4 of a diced red onion and 1/4 cup queso fresco. Stir to combine. Top with chopped grilled corn, fresh cilantro, and a dash of chili powder for a sweet and spicy treat. You’ll be the toast of the town with our amazing deviled egg recipe and fun variations!
