Great dinners don’t need to come from award-winning chefs or take hours to prepare. Sometimes, the best meals in life stem from just a few basic ingredients and a crockpot. Our recipe for three-ingredient crockpot BBQ chicken sandwiches is the missing link in your busy life. Give yourself a much-deserved break with a recipe that’s simple, low-maintenance, and tasty all in one!

3 Ingredient Crockpot BBQ Chicken Sandwiches

    Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 3-4 chicken breasts, thawed
    • 2 cups barbeque sauce
    • 1/4 cup chicken broth

    Supplies

    • Crockpot
    • Wooden spoon
    • Meat thermometer
    • Fork

    Directions

    1. Place your chicken breasts into the crockpot.

    2. Gently pour the barbecue sauce all over the meat.

    3. Add your chicken broth to the mix and stir everything with a wooden spoon to combine all the flavours. (Note that you can also grab a pinch of salt and pepper for added seasoning if you prefer.)

    4. Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or 6-8 hours on low. You’ll be able to tell if your chicken is ready if you can easily shred it with a fork or once it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

    5. Serve whole or shredded on buns for sandwiches.

A three-ingredient recipe sure does help relieve the hassle of making dinner. Sticking to the simplified recipe is totally up to you, but you can toss in a few more ingredients if you like. Different sodas like Coca-Cola or Dr. Pepper can give your chicken some added oomph that BBQ sauce couldn’t on its own. The pop blends with the sauce to present a sweeter finished product, even if it sounds a little crazy at first.

    Right On (BB) Cue

For decades, BBQ sauce companies everywhere have been competing for our attention. While we all have a staple brand in our household, throw caution to the wind and try a new sauce! Some sauces differ only slightly while others have spicy kicks to them. It all boils down to the punch you want your crockpot BBQ chicken to pack.

    Topping Yourself

Once our chicken is nestled between those buns, it’s time to start building our best sandwich. Sliced onion, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise are all classic options to help you perfect a sandwich overflowing with complementing flavors. Though, with enough BBQ sauce to bathe in, we think this dish is pretty darn tasty on its own.

Crockpot BBQ chicken is the recipe for time-constrained cooks. You don’t need a surplus of ingredients or anything too fancy; fetch yourself these three crucial ingredients and cook yourself a pot of chicken to use in a classic sandwich.
