A good donut is hard to resist. If you got an air fryer for Christmas, you can save money and time by making delicious air fryer donuts at home. You’ll never need to hit up your local donut shop again! (Don’t worry, if your family missed the hint and you didn’t get an air fryer yet, treat yourself here!)

    Air Fryer Donuts

    Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 1 can flaky, pre-made biscuit dough
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
    • 5 tablespoons melted butter

    Supplies

    • cutting board
    • cookie cutter or shot glass
    • cooking oil
    • medium bowl
    • spoon
    • tongs
    • pastry brush

    Directions

    1. Lay the biscuit dough on a flat surface, like a cutting board. Use a cookie cutter or a small shot glass to cut holes in the dough.

    2. Lightly grease the air fryer basket with some cooking oil.

    3. Place the donuts (and/or donut holes) in the air fryer one at a time and ensure they aren’t touching each other.

    4. Cook the donuts at 350 degrees for 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown.

    5. As the donuts are baking, fill a medium bowl with the granulated sugar and cinnamon; mix everything together with a spoon.

    6. Once the doughnuts are done, remove them from the air fryer using a pair of tongs and brush them with the melted butter using your pastry brush. Once the donuts are coated in butter, brush them with the sugar and cinnamon mixture.

    Glazes And Garnishes

If cinnamon isn’t your thing, there are other ways for you to garnish your air fryer donuts. Simply brush your pastries with butter and roll them around in some powdered sugar. A cup to a cup and a half of powdered sugar should be enough to coat the donuts and the holes.

You could also prepare your own glaze. Mix two cups of powdered sugar with one-fourth of a cup of milk. Then dip your donuts into the mixture and set them aside to cool. If you choose to use a glaze, you can also dip your donuts in sprinkles or gently add some sprinkles on top.

    Diet-Friendly Variations

    Vegan

You can bake vegan versions of these donuts, but you’ll need to make your own dough using soy milk, flour, and caster sugar. You’ll also need to replace the butter with a vegan-friendly substitute like coconut oil.

    Keto

You can also make keto donuts! Once again, you’ll need to make your own dough, and instead of using butter, you’ll need to use refined coconut oil.

It’s never been simpler to make your own donuts. It takes less than 10 minutes to bake a batch of donuts in your air fryer, and you can enjoy them throughout the week! Dip them in powdered sugar or make your own glaze; however you make them, they will be a delicious snack.
