Want to learn the secret to recreating Olive Garden's out-of-this-world Fettuccine Alfredo? Look no further! Several Fettuccine Alfredo recipes claim to be the best method for this savory, creamy dish. However, many Fettuccine Alfredo connoisseurs would agree that Olive Garden's recipe has it down pat.

Olive Garden Fettuccine Alfredo features a simple, yet smooth, rich sauce that gently coats the pasta. The addicting sauce consists of wholesome fresh ingredients, such as butter, garlic, heavy cream, Parmesan, and Romano cheese.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fettuccine pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup imported Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup imported Romano cheese, grated
  • fresh parsley, garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, cook fettuccine pasta according to package directions and then drain.

  2. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts to the skillet. Cook each side, about 3-5 minutes — salt and pepper, to taste. Transfer cooked chicken to a plate. When cooled, slice into thin strips.

  3. Next, saute the butter and garlic in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Cook the garlic and butter mixture for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.

  4. Add the flour to the saucepan, stir to combine. Slowly pour in the milk and heavy cream while whisking. Add the Parmesan and Romano cheeses. Stir until melted, then allow the sauce to come to a simmer. Remove from heat.

  5. Pour the sauce over the fettuccine pasta in the large saucepan. The starches from the pasta will help thicken the sauce. Serve the sliced chicken over the fettuccine Alfredo. Garnish with fresh parsley. Enjoy!
