There are so many things to love about Lizzo. She's got style, she's got talent, she's got personality. And she truly does everything in her own way.

One of the greatest things about the 32-year-old singer is the representation she provides not only for women of color but also for women who don't fit the mold of society's traditional standards of beauty.

Lizzo proudly reps having a vegan diet, and she's been working out regularly for years. But, as she said in a TikTok video, "Hey, so I've been working out consistently for the last five years and it may come as a surprise to some of y'all that I'm not working out to have your ideal body type. I'm working out to have my ideal body type...And you know what type that is? None of your fucking business because I am beautiful, I am strong, I do my job and I stay on my job."

Lizzo continues to demolish the culture of fat-shaming, as evidenced by the nude photo she posted on Instagram on April 20th.

Lizzo Unedited

We're so used to seeing thin, posed, photoshopped bodies on social media that it is hugely refreshing to see Lizzo posting such a real image. The unedited image resulted in an outpouring of joy, celebration, and gratitude—and got more than 2.3 million likes. Many fans commented that the photo made them feel more comfortable in their own skin. Queer Eye beloved star Jonathan Van Ness commented "YES ????????????????" (that comment alone raked in 2,488 likes).

A few other high-profile comments were Chelsea Handler's comment "Yeah yeah yeah," Marc Jacobs's comment "??????," and Janelle Monae's comment "ICON ???? and fine."

Lizzo looks so damn good in the photo, and it's fantastic that she's getting the praise she deserves. And while looking beautiful and brave in her skin is wonderful, the post is all the more important for how it contributes to the body positivity conversation. It's incredibly powerful when people like Lizzo stand up, speak out, and choose to bring representation to all kinds of bodies.

Lizzo continues to do right by herself, by her fans, and by society through her unabashed willingness to proudly be exactly who she is.
