Cops often don’t get the recognition they deserve. From obnoxious people to downright crazy people, cops never know how exactly a person is going to act once they’ve been pulled over. Here, these cops relive the moment they realize the person behind the wheel didn’t quite have it all together.
Are You Real?

“Years before I retired, I pulled over a woman because she had expired tags on her car. It was supposed to be a simple traffic stop so I could warn her about the tags. Most of the time people just genuinely forget, you know?
However, when I came up to her window she immediately started the conversation by rolling down her window and shouting:
‘Are you serious right now?! I do NOT have time for this!’ She was wearing scrubs and had her hair up, so I presumed she was a nurse or something. I calmly explained to her why I had pulled her over, only to have her cut me off.
‘I get that! I just haven’t had the time, okay?!’ the nurse said. ‘Some idiot in a Honda ran a red light a few miles down the road from here but you pull me over for an expired tag? Typical good for nothing cop!’
After hearing that, I let my feelings get the better of me. If she wanted to insult me, she could get a full on citation instead of a warning. I asked for her license and registration, only to hear more flap. When she said she wasn’t going to, I advised her that she was only making the situation worse for herself. Keep in mind that she was using extremely colorful language towards me, language that I would rather not repeat. After going back and forth with her for several minutes, I ordered her to step out of the car. Suddenly alarmed, the nurse quickly tried to retrieve her license and registration.
‘No, we are past that,’ I told her. ‘Get out of the vehicle, now.’
With nothing else to say, the nurse reluctantly opened her car vehicle and stepped out. Without warning, I saw her arm jerk toward me. Before I could react, my eyes were suddenly on fire. She had just pepper sprayed me!
Now being functional after being pepper sprayed is part of my training, but boy was did it still come off as a shock. A nurse of all people had the gall to pepper spray me on the side of the road in broad freaking daylight! My thoughts were racing, but I still managed to lunge forward and pin her to the side of the car. The whole time the woman was screaming for help and claimed that I was assaulting her for ‘no reason.’ She wasn’t that strong, so I was able to radio for backup as I struggled to keep her pinned. It didn’t take long before another cop showed up, and another.
Later on, the woman claimed that for some reason, she thought that I was a person pretending to be a cop and acted accordingly. Her defense did NOT hold up in court.
One Too Many

“Late one night, I was stopped at a red light when a black pickup truck pulled up beside me. I barely even looked over because it was just a normal occurrence, but when the light turned green, I witnessed the truck take off abruptly, nearly crashing into the light pole in the process.
Obviously I flipped on my lights and pulled the truck over. When I approached the window, a man rolled down his window but refused to look at me.
‘What the heck was that back there?’ I asked.
The man shrugged and said, ‘I’m heavy footed and kinda gunned it on accident. My bad, officer.’
I took one look into the man’s bloodshot eyes and instantly knew.
‘Sir, have you been drinking tonight?’ I asked.
‘Oh,’ the man said. ‘Yeah, I had a couple beers with the fellas.’
‘And you didn’t think it would be a bad idea to drive?’ I asked.
‘Well I wasn’t going to leave my truck there overnight!’ the man said, clearly starting to get irritated. ‘So what are you gonna do?’
After that, I ordered him to step out of the vehicle, slowly. I watched as the man’s eyes grew wide with terror, but he did exactly as he was told. Once he did, I was shocked to find several cans of beer fall out of the door. As I had the man do a sobriety test, I was amazed at how well he did for how wasted he was, only to sadly come to the realization that I was dealing with a high-functioning alcoholic.
A little later, we discovered that this wasn’t the man’s first DUI. It’s people like him that end up taking innocent lives. I’m happy to say that he did end up getting the max punishment at his sentencing. I just hope he never finds himself behind the wheel again. “
What’s That Smell?

“I was a Florida State Trooper for eighteen years. One night I pulled over a woman in a sedan for going well over the speed limit. At first it was a normal traffic stop. She was compliant as she handed me her license and registration, listened patiently as I went over the repercussions of the ticket, and she even apologized and said she had been having a ‘rough night’ and that it wouldn’t happen again.
However, I couldn’t help but notice a very distinctive smell coming from the car. Her entire car smelled like kitty litter. It was such an odd occurrence, one that I couldn’t ignore. Before asking the woman to step out of her car, I decided to ask her some additional questions.
When I asked her where she was going, she said she was going to her boyfriend’s house out of town. When I asked her if she had been drinking tonight, she claimed that she had never had a drink in her life. The more I asked her questions, the more she tried to distance herself with her answers. It was very strange and the typical responses of someone with something to hide. When I asked her to step out of the vehicle, the woman suddenly became very belligerent.
Very soon, I would discover that she had the head of a woman in a plastic bag full of kitty litter in the hatch of the vehicle. Later we found out that the head belonged to her ex-boyfriend’s new lover.
I’m guessing the kitty litter was to mask out the odor, but it was one of the most horrific things I ever found during a traffic stop.”
