1. “They Were Never Invited Back To Our Home”

“A few years ago, my husband and I hosted a game night at our house for 14 to 16 of our friends and their kids. We had card games, Scrabble, and trivia. Multiple games were going on at once and everyone was having a good time. At the time, my son just turned 3 years old, and the other kids at our house ranged from ages 3 to 9 years old. Most of the little ones were playing in my son’s room.
I was playing cards with another couple and the game was good. Our game could become quite animated, exciting, and loud, especially if you were winning. The couple we were playing with had a 3-year-old son. Their son came to the table several times and told both of the parents he needed to use the bathroom.
‘You’re fine, just hold it,’ the parents kept telling him.
We offered to pause the game so they could take care of the bathroom business but the parents refused.
They said, ‘He’s okay,’ and ‘He just went.’
The 3-year-old came back and asked a few more times, until finally, they called their 8-year-old to take him to the bathroom. However, the 3-year-old claimed he no longer needed to go.
About 20 minutes later, all of the other kids came running out of my son’s room screaming.
One of the children announced, ‘He stepped in poop!’
I walked back to my son’s room and found poop smeared on the floor, wall, and back of my son’s leg, foot, and shorts. The smell was terrible. I was fuming!
I knew children had accidents. This was a toddler who just turned 3 and was newly potty trained. Accidents happened. However, the rudeness was in the fact that not only did the parents ignore their son after repeated requests to use the restroom, but they didn’t even offer to help clean up! Worst of all, they never apologized. They just kept playing cards and sent their 8-year-old to help the toddler clean up. I had to put my son in the bathtub, sanitize and bleach the room, and wash all the toys and bedding. I was ready to end the party right then and there, but my husband didn’t want me to make a scene.
Thankfully, my husband and one of the other mothers helped me clean up the mess and the party continued. The couple had a great time, but they were never invited back to our home. We haven’t missed them, either.”
2. “It Made Me Realize What Type Of Person He Was”

“My wife and I were friends with a couple for a couple of years and we hung out at least once per month with them.
We threw a small house party for around 20 or 30 people when we moved into our new home. We informed everyone invited about how no children were allowed, but one couple still asked if they could bring their kids. We told them no, thinking they would drop their children off at a sitter. Regardless, they showed up late on the night of the party, with two kids in tow. Instead of being rude, I brought their boys upstairs to our game room and set up both an Xbox and PlayStation for them. Almost immediately, the older boy told me how my selection of games ‘sucked.’ Once I was able to set them up with a couple of games they were happy with, I went back downstairs to enjoy the party.
Around an hour later, we all heard a crazy pounding noise from the game room, and I ran upstairs to investigate. The child’s father barely beat me up the stairs and checked out the situation. Everything was fine. The son had accidentally locked himself in the room and started to freak out. Standing behind the father, I could see almost the entire room. It seemed like the situation was under control and it was just a temporary freak out. So, we all went back to the party, and everyone had a good evening.
The next day, after our kids came back home, they almost immediately discovered a large hole in the game room door. It turned out the older boy had accidentally locked himself in the game room, and couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t open, so he kicked a massive hole through the backside of the door.
The real kicker was how when I standing behind my friend as he was checking on them, I saw him look at the back of the door. He knew there was a huge chunk missing, but chose not to say anything.
A cheap bedroom door was usually less than $200 at Home Depot, fully prepped, and could be installed by nearly anyone. Why say nothing? These were not people incapable of offering to fix or pay for a door because their son caused unnecessary damage to our home. Plus, the children weren’t even supposed to be there in the first place.
This person chose to ignore something like this, and it made me realize what type of person he was. We never hung out again afterward.”
3. “He Was A Basement-Dwelling Conspiracy Theorist”

“One of my husband’s high school buddies decided to visit for a week. As a courtesy, we let him stay in our tiny guest room. They hadn’t seen or been in touch for over 20 years and they both were excited about the reunion.
It turned out his good friend went in a different life direction. He was a basement-dwelling conspiracy theorist with delusions of alien abductions and subdermal government tracking devices.
We were more than ready for the visit to get over with but still had to grit our teeth and wait it out.
On the fourth night, we heard odd noises outside our bedroom door. My husband opened the door to find him outside, claiming to be heading to the bathroom. We would have just added it to his list of oddities, but my husband noticed something in his hand. He demanded to see it, and it was a tape recorder.
It turned out he had been secretly recording everything in the house for his entire visit.
The friend declared, ‘I only did it so I would know you both aren’t a threat. I can destroy the tapes now.’
My husband was furious and destroyed the recorder and tapes.
My husband yelled, ‘I can’t believe you! You’re leaving on the next flight. You need to get out of my house!’
He cried and tried to explain himself, which included some gobbledygook about being with the FBI and other garbage, but nothing was going to change our minds.
We dropped him off at the airport with his stuff, minus his recording equipment, and never talked to him again. He made a couple of attempts to talk to my husband but he got blocked instead.
We wouldn’t have allowed a stranger to stay with us, but it turned out history wasn’t the same as knowing someone. This was rude and intrusive, but it could have been a whole lot worse.”
4. The Overstayed Welcome

“This happened around my wedding almost two years after college graduation. Like most guys who get married so closely after college, I chose most of my groomsmen from my college buddies.
One of those buddies, ‘Leon,’ was an underclassman who was still a poor college student. So when he showed up a week ahead of the ceremony, I gave him the spare bedroom of my apartment and covered his expenses. My wife-to-be liked Leon, but given a whole week, he did get on her nerves. Considerably.
Well, the wedding came and went. Everything went just as planned. The same night, we headed over to an airport hotel so we wouldn’t have a drive of any kind before our early morning flight to Jamaica. We only had one week there, so the time flew. Before we knew it, we were back at our apartment door.
I unlocked the door, swept my new wife off her feet, and carried her over the threshold, only to be greeted by an excited, ‘So, how was Jamaica?’
Talk about shocked. We had no idea Leon decided to take a vacation of his own. We thought for sure he would be long gone as well as the rest of the wedding party. Rather than head back to his room at Mom and Dad’s, Leon had determined a week solo at my apartment would be more relaxing.
We spoke and he told us how he could stay longer as school was over and he hadn’t gotten a summer job.
Anyway, the rudest thing anyone ever did while visiting my home was overstaying his visit by a week. Then, planning on overstaying for weeks more right after I got married.”
