We can’t always have a ‘Mr. Roger’ as a neighbor. These residents call out the most obnoxious neighbor they’ve ever had. The content has been edited for clarity.
“No Trespassing”

“So I bought my first house 12 years ago. It was in a low-middle-class neighborhood with a lot of working-class families. My house had a pool in the backyard and my parents bought my wife and me a hot tub as a wedding/housewarming gift.
Two weeks after moving in, we found a stranger and 6 teenage kids swimming in our pool when we got home. We will call them ‘Entitled Mom’ (EM), ‘Entitled Daughter’ (ED), ‘Entitled Son’ (ES), and the others I assume to be their friends and/or boyfriend. ED was about 18 or 19 years old and her brother was about 17.
When we told them to get out and get off our property, the EM told me how the previous owner gave them permission to come over whenever they wanted to swim. I explained to her I was the new owner and that I was not ok with it.
I also told EM not only do I not know them but there is a legal liability for me if they got hurt. She yelled and faked crying saying I was being a bad neighbor, selfish, and forcing her kids to sweat in the summer heat. She told me if they died of heat stroke, it was my fault for not letting them swim in my pool.
I told her, ‘Get the heck off my property and never return.’
Fast forward two weeks, I had put up a ‘No Trespassing’ sign on my property in multiple spots and had gotten to know many of the not entitled neighbors. They were great and told me to ignore EM and her kids. They told us she was already badmouthing us, but no one ever believed her.
From then on, every time I woke up in the morning, there was evidence of people using my pool and hot tub at night when we were asleep or away. I found beer cans, cigarette butts, and even a used condom. I figured it had to be the EM and/or her brats. So I installed cameras on the grounds and started videotaping. Sure enough, I caught ED and a few others hanging out in my pool Friday nights when my wife and I are out.
On Friday nights, my wife went to a friend’s house for movies and wine, while I played Warhammer 40k or card games. I figured they must have been waiting for us to leave and then threw a mini-party or were quietly swimming while we slept. So I discussed it with my wife and decided to teach EM and her brats a lesson.
So the next Friday night, I parked my car a street over and my wife did the same. We waited in the dark house to see if any of them would come over. And sure enough, they did and started skinny dipping in my pool and hot tub. (Why a bro and sis would do that together still bothers me.)
They had beer and I could smell the weed from inside the house. I waited 45 minutes for them to get really into their fun and two were actually hooking up in my pool. I then sprung my trap. I went out with my rifle and pointed at the ground.
When I reached the pool, my wife flipped on the backlights and I yelled, ‘Freeze or I’ll shoot.’
My wife then called the police.
They all had the ‘deer in the headlights’ look on their faces and not one of them tried to speak for a good minute. The ED started to tell us how she had permission to be there and how we needed to let them get dressed.
I told them if they moved toward me or their property, that I would consider them to be charging me or reaching for a weapon and I’d shoot. They must have believed me because they froze. One girl begged me to give her her clothes while she was trying to cover her breasts with her hands.
Not being a total jerk, I said I would throw them all their clothing. I then walked over to their piles of clothing, phones, and purses and threw EVERYTHING into the pool. They freaked out trying to save their phones and other goods.
After ten minutes, the police showed up and they had the kids climb out of the pool wearing their soaked clothes and trying to shake their phones dry. I showed the police the videos from our cameras, and the ‘No Trespassing’ signs, and explained to them how I had told them and their mother they were not allowed in my yard. The kids were arrested for trespassing, possession of a controlled substance, underage drinking, and indecent exposure.
The police recommended that next time, I leave the gun in the safe and let them just come and get them. I told them I thought they may attack my wife and had to ‘stand my ground.’ I proved I never pointed it at them with the videos so I couldn’t be charged with anything.
As the kids were being loaded into the police cruisers, EM showed up yelling at the police and my wife and I. She demanded the police let them go and even tried to open the door on one of the cruisers. The police threatened her with being arrested if she didn’t back off and leave my wife and I alone.
I later found out the charges against the teens were reduced and they all went to plea deals. They all got community service, fines, and were put on probation. We got a restraining order against EM and her brats so they couldn’t bother us again. I sent a bill to EM for the cost of draining, disinfecting, and refilling my pool and having a professional cleaning service clean up the kids mess. The bill was for about $400. I had my parent’s attorney send it to EM with a letter stating that if it was not paid in 30 days, then we would sue her for a larger amount. She paid and sent a check to my attorney and thankfully it did not bounce.
About a year later the entire entitled family moved away and we never heard from them again.”
The Water Police

“On Thursday, my entire lawn was turned into dirt to prepare it for resodding. My sprinkler system was also repaired. By Friday, my lawn was resodded and my sprinkler system was programmed to water every day. All were within the city guidelines for resodding lawns. While I was still talking to the man who resodded my lawn as he turned on the sprinkler system, this woman from 2 houses down was approaching my house and taking pictures and video.
She walked away when the man walked towards her asking, ‘Can I help you?’
Seems harmless, right?
Saturday morning at 5:30 am, this woman knocked on my door telling me I should turn my sprinkler off since it was not my watering day. I explained to her my lawn was resodded and I was allowed to water every day for 3-4 weeks. She gave me a speech about how I was stealing water from the city. Water that should be conserved so others won’t have to worry about getting what they need.
I told her, ‘We are not in a drought. And once one month passes, my sprinkler system will be programmed to work on watering days only.’
I kept my cool. All, while she had her phone, pointed right at me. I had enough, so I told her to leave and closed the door.
Yesterday morning, she knocked on my door and began recording me. I reminded her I was allowed to water every day for up to a month since my lawn was resodded and she needed to leave me alone. Door closed.
This morning, the same thing. I opened the door long enough to tell her if she didn’t stop harassing me early in the morning, I would press charges for harassment. About a half hour later, there were police at my door.
It seemed that this Karen called the police saying I threatened her. I showed them video surveillance of her taking pictures and video on Friday and of her knocking on my door in the early AM hours shouting at me about my lawn. It was obvious from what I showed them that I wasn’t the problem. Then I wished them a nice day. As I was closing my door, this Karen approached them with her phone showing pics and video and tried to say me I was making a threat.
I listened as they told her it was obvious she was the one out of sorts and that what she was doing was stalking and harassing. She yelled at them saying I was stealing city water. Then she shoved one of the officers. As she was being arrested, she kept shouting how this was my fault and I better pay her bail.”
Saved By The Ring Camera

“My husband and I bought our first and current home just over 2 years ago. We were so excited to get into a house and were really looking forward to getting out of apartment living. But it has turned out to be a complete disaster. It started with the neighbors behind us.
They were mowing 8 feet over the lot line and they have a 120 lb. husky/lab/german shepherd mix who they let out with no fence, tether or leash. After he charged at our 4 lb puppy, we had a fence installed. The fence pissed them off beyond belief because ‘Children should be able to play wherever.’
Except never once did we see their kids outback.
We thought the fence would be the end of it, but it wasn’t. Now, they ram our fence with their lawnmower whenever they can and throw trash over the fence into our property. We couldn’t figure out where the hostility was coming from until I heard the wife talking to her mom/MIL about us.
She said, ‘They don’t even have kids. They took that house from a family who deserves it.’
NOTE: our house is a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom and is just under 1100 sqft. This is not a home built for kids.
We thought this was just them and not the attitude of everyone around us. But then I started hearing whispers from some neighborhood parents about the same thing: ‘They don’t have kids, they don’t belong here.’
Again, this was, like, the same 3 sets of parents who all have kids the same age who play together.
This goes on for a while and we just wrote it off as a few bad eggs. Then a couple of weeks ago my husband and I were sniping at each other while carrying in groceries from the car. As we were putting the groceries away and laughing, the cops showed up at our door. Where we live, we have very strict domestic violence laws, so usually someone gets arrested if the cops get a domestic call. It was pretty obvious that no one was at risk of anything and I go back inside. We IMMEDIATELY pull up the live feed from our Ring cam and catch the cops’ conversation:
Officer 1: ‘Yeah, this was nothing. If my neighbors called the office every time my wife and I snapped at each other, they’d be over every day.’
Sergeant: ‘This was a huge waste of our time. I’m going to go over and talk to the caller. We never should’ve been called. I am so tired of coming into this neighborhood.’
We saw the sergeant walk over across the street and we couldn’t hear what he said, but it was pretty obvious he was less than happy with the neighbors who called.
The husband started shouting, ‘We have kids! They shouldn’t have to listen to this!’ and the sergeant said something that shut him up and wrote a ticket which turned out to be a ticket for a false report.
We were VERY upset about the cops being called to our home. We knew how close we came to one of us getting arrested over nothing. We talked to our next-door neighbor, who we love and who is getting their house ready to sell.
She said, ‘Yeah, I wasn’t going to say anything because my ex-husband and I had issues with this same group for years and we didn’t want to get involved, but there is a group of parents who talk about you guys all the time and are working together to get you to leave.’
We don’t know what to do at this point. We’re surrounded by really mean parents who, apparently, are going to constantly call the cops on us until they run us out. We just had an incident this morning. We caught the neighbors behind us letting their huge dog into our fenced-in yard to poop. Full on trespassing, opened our gate and everything. My husband went out there and got upset with them and all they did was go inside, WITHOUT THEIR DOG. They just left him in our yard.
So my husband came inside, called animal control, and forwarded the Ring footage of them opening the gate to the same sergeant who came by our house on the domestic call. When the cops and animal control showed up, the wife came out back to try and sneak the dog back into the house and was caught by the cops in our yard.”
A 35 Year-Old Man Child

“My neighbor who we will call, ‘Greg’ was into me. We made small talk once in the elevator. Then a week later, he saw me walk outside and chased me down the street, asking where I was going. When I told him, ‘Getting coffee,’ he asked if he could come.
I’m in a relationship and was 15 weeks pregnant at the time but not showing at all. I told him I was meeting a friend at the coffee shop so he would leave me alone. He then asked our doorman for my phone number claiming I told him they could give it to him. I wish my door people would have asked me first but they gave it to him anyway.
Ever since then, he has been nonstop texting me asking me to do stuff.
Finally today, I replied and told him, ‘I’m moving into a house in October with my long-term partner since we have a baby on the way. I think you’re a nice person, but I’m not interested in spending time together.’
He replied, ‘Lol, you don’t have to make things up just to not hang out. I didn’t even want to hook up with you.’
I replied, ‘I’m not making anything up, but ok. Take care and best of luck to you.’
Now I’ve had multiple people in my building tell me how Greg is running around telling everyone that I’m lying about being pregnant and being in a relationship because I don’t want to date him. I’m shocked that a 35-year-old for man is acting this way. The good news is my other neighbors know he’s full of shit but it’s going to be so uncomfortable now if I run into him in person. I feel like I’m in high school.”
