When it comes to horror, Netflix really seems to know what they’re doing. Starting in 2018, Netflix has had pretty consistent success with its Mike Flanagan-created horror series starting with the mega-hit The Haunting Of Hill House followed up by The Haunting Of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass. Later this year, Netflix will be trying out a new style of horror series in Cabinet Of Curiosities with the maestro of horror, Guillermo del Toro, at the helm.
Here’s everything you need to know about the series.
The Trailer
In case there was any doubt, despite Guillermo del Toro being involved, this show is going to be scary. With that being said, the most intriguing thing we learned in the trailer is the storytelling style they are going to use in this series. Similar to another Netflix hit, Black Mirror, and FX’s American Horror Stories, each individual episode is going to be its own story. What’s even more exciting are the names attached to these stories.
The Creators
Guillermo del Toro will be responsible for two of the eight original stories. The others will be handled by Jennifer Kent (The Babadook), David Prior (The Empty Man), Guillermo Navarro (Narcos), Keith Thomas (Firestarter), Panos Cosmatos (Mandy), Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight), Vincenzo Natali (In The Tall Grass), and Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night).
The Cast
Ben Barnes, Essie Davis, Crispin Glover, Andrew Lincoln, Eric André, Rupert Grint, Kate Micucci, F. Murray Abraham, Luke Roberts, Time Blake Nelson, Hannah Galway, Charlyne Yi, Glynn Turman, and David Hewlett will all appear, however, their roles are still a mystery.
The Story Titles
The episode titles are “Dreams in the Witch House,” “Graveyard Rats,” “Lot 36,” “Pickman’s Model,” “The Autopsy,” “The Murmuring,” “The Outside” and “The Viewing.”
Release Date
Instead of Netflix’s typical “release every single episode all at once” style, they will be releasing episodes two at a time starting October 25th and running through October 28th as part of the Netflix & Chills Halloween event.
