Frito Lay and 7-Eleven have teamed up to create a stuffed version of the popular chip, Doritos. Known as Doritos Loaded, they're basically a mozzarella stick but instead of bread crumbs, you use crushed up Doritos. But don't worry, if you can't find these stuffed Doritos at a 7-Eleven near you, you can make your own version!
This recipe is a bit of handy work as it requires some deep frying, but your tastebuds will thank you after you sink your teeth into these bad boys.
You will need:
2 pounds of cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups Doritos Nacho Cheese chips
1 1/2 cups Doritos Spicy Nacho Cheese chips
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 quart vegetable oil
black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder to taste.
First cut the cheese into 1/2 inch squares and then cut those squares into two triangles. In a food processor blend both kinds of chips and spices until they resemble bread crumbs. Put this mixture in one bowl, beaten eggs in a second bowl and the flour in a third bowl. Take each cheese triangle, coat in flour, immediately coat in egg wash and finally dip the cheese in the Doritos crumb mixture. Lay the cheese on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet and freeze for at least 3 hours. When they're ready, heat oil in a fryer at 350 degrees and fry the cheese triangles for 1 to 2 minutes, or until golden brown. Take them out and place on a paper towel to drain. Finally, dig into the gooey, cheesy, Doritos lined goodness.
Yum! Do you want more cheesy recipes in your life? You need to try these gooey, cheese-filled recipes then!
