The Dry method is the easiest way to make flavored salts. Just mix in 1 teaspoon flavoring for every ¼ cup salt. The dry method uses any dry spice or dehydrated fresh ingredients like fresh herbs or citrus peels. If using dehydrated herbs, grind into small bits and then mix in with the salt. If you love spicy foods try making Ancho Chili and lime salt. Simply combine ¼ cup salt, ½ teaspoon dried lime zest and ½ teaspoon dried ancho chilis. Yum!

The best method is the reduction method. You can make your salt taste like your favorite alcoholic beverage. Yes, you read that right! Wine flavored salt?! Yes please! For this method you want to first reduce your alcohol. Use three cups of alcohol per 1 cup of salt. To reduce the alcohol, bring it to a boil and simmer until it forms a syrup-like mixture. Immediately add the salt to the mixture and stir until combined. Then, like with the wet method, spread onto a baking sheet and bake for 2 hours at 170 degrees. This is a must for girl’s night!
