McDonald’s has always been the fast food restaurant that catered to hungry bellies and drunk 3:00 a.m. visits, which is something they’ve known for years now. I mean, there’s a reason why everyone has been scrambling to get their hands on the cherished McGold Card. But while we’ve all been fawning over the beloved McGriddle sandwich all these years, the chain thought it was time for a change…
Citizens of Minnesota can rejoice at the revised menu item because locations there will now be offering the McGriddle with a twist. As opposed to having their classic buns, the sandwich will now have French toast buns!
An August 13 news release from McDonald’s stated: “With the introduction of McGriddles French Toast, we’re building a better McDonald’s by fulfilling our customers’ desires for a little indulgence at breakfast. […] We’re listening to our customers and continuing to evolve our menu offerings to meet their needs. Our customers have told us they are looking for a bigger and more filling breakfast option.”
The good news is you’re still going to have a great taste and the flavors you adore. McDonald’s chef Mike Lingo said “You get savory and smoky flavors from the sausage and bacon. Creaminess, cheddar flavors and salt from the American cheese; sweet cinnamon, spice and vanilla flavors from the French toast. It tastes like homemade French toast. It’s everything you love about breakfast in one sandwich.”
Over 200 participating locations in Minnesota will be testing out the new sandwich to see how things go. Tom Butler, the co-op president for McDonald’s Minnesota said that the chain is excited to test out the new item and “help evolve McDonald’s menus across the country.” He also said he’s looking forward to seeing what kind of feedback comes in from customers.
If you’re one of the lucky patrons of Minnesota you can head over to your local McDonald’s to try things out now. The new McGriddle is already available and depending on how feedback goes, it could be making its way to the rest of the country!
