According to cocktail lore, the original daiquiri was invented in the late 19th century near the village of Daiquiri, on Cuba’s East coast. Since its humble inception, daiquiris have become one of the most popular tropical libations. There are limitless variations of this beachy beverage, but we’ve chosen to highlight one of our favorites. Keep reading for our famous and delicious frozen banana daiquiri recipe!
What You’ll Need
This no-nonsense recipe only requires a few kitchen items.
- Blender
- Measuring cup aka jigger in bartender speak
- Citrus juicer
- Cutting board
- Chef’s knife
- Glassware of choice
Ingredients
- 2 oz. white rum (like Bacardi Superior, Brugal Blanco, or Ron Diplomatico Blanco)
- 1 oz. fresh-squeezed lime juice (from one lime)
- 1 oz. simple syrup
- 1 large ripe banana or 2 small ripe bananas
- 2-3 cups of crushed or cubed ice
- ½ cup coconut milk (coconut water may be substituted for a less caloric concoction)
Instructions
Step #1: No pesticides allowed
Rinse the lime in fruit and veggie wash (we recommend Rebel Green Fruit & Veggie Clean, available at Target, Walmart, and local health food stores).
Step #2: Prime your lime
Cut the lime in half, then manually juice it until you get 1 oz. of fresh-squeezed liquid.
Step #3: A-peeling is appealing
Peel the banana (s). Set aside.
Step #4: The main event
Combine lime juice, banana(s), coconut milk, simple syrup, ice, and rum in a blender. Blend for 30 seconds-1 minute or until smooth.
Step #5: Celebration time
Pour your finished daiquiri into your choice of glassware for serving; our pick for this drink is a classic margarita glass. Optionally garnish with a lime wedge or mini umbrella, and enjoy immediately.
