We already know how to make perfectly poached eggs using the stovetop, but it’s time to tackle them another way, with a microwave oven.

    • microwave-safe mug
    • measuring cups
    • toothpick
    • microwave-safe plate or saucer
    • slotted spoon

    Ingredients

    • 1 egg
    • 1/3 cup water

    Instructions

    Step #1: Water Bath

Fill mug with water and vinegar.

    Step #2: Eggs-cellent

Carefully crack egg into mug, then prick yolk with toothpick. Cover with plate.

    Step #3: Micro Magic

Cook in microwave for 1 minute on high power. Depending on your particular model, you may have to cook a bit longer (10 seconds or so) if the egg white isn’t quite done. Remove from water using slotted spoon, then enjoy on avocado toast or however you like a great poached egg!

    Step #1: Eggs-tatic

Carefully place eggs on bottom of bowl. Cover completely with water, making sure there’s at least 1/2 inch of water over each egg.

    Step #2: Smart Salt

Sprinkle 1 tbsp of salt over eggs and water; this helps to ensure that the eggs don’t crack and explode while cooking.

    Step #3: Microwave Moments

Cook on medium power for about 9 minutes. If not done, cook for another minute. Remove from water, and let cool completely before enjoying. Use these beauties for breakfast, for deviled eggs, or as a quick snack!
