    Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 2 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder (divided)
    • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 1/2 cup and 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
    • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley leaves
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    • pinch of salt

    Supplies

    • 2 baking sheets
    • parchment paper
    • large bowl
    • medium microwave-safe bowl
    • whisk
    • silicone spatula
    • microwave-safe measuring cup
    • pastry brush

    Directions

    1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Cover two baking sheets with parchment paper. Set the baking sheets aside.

    2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, and kosher salt. Stir until well combined.

    3. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt 1/2 cup of butter, about 45 seconds. When the butter is melted, pour in the buttermilk. Whisk until the butter and buttermilk are well combined.

    4. Carefully pour the buttermilk mixture over the dry ingredients in the large bowl. Stir with a silicone spatula until the batter becomes moist. Fold in the cheddar cheese.

    5. Drop 6 heaping spoonfuls onto each prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cheddar biscuits are golden brown.

    6. While the cheddar biscuits are in the oven, prepare the melted butter spread. Melt the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter in a microwave-safe measuring cup, about 30 seconds.

    7. Finely chop the parsley leaves. Add the parsley and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, the onion powder, and a pinch of salt to the melted butter. Whisk until well blended.

    8. Remove the cheddar biscuits from the oven. Using a pastry brush, coat the top of each biscuit with the butter mixture. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
