Sunday, March 14th is Pi Day, and we've rounded up our favorite types for the occasion. In this roundup, we've featured dessert-type pies, although if the inspiration hits to make a Chicken Pot Pie or Shepherd's Pie, be our guest!

When Andie MacDowell's character Dorothy sang about pie in the '90s movie, Michael, we felt that. We love all types of pie. There are pies for all occasions and every skill level. Pecan, chocolate, peanut butter, apple, derby, cherry with graham cracker crusts, homemade crusts, or store-bought; all pies are unique and wonderful.

Yes, there are superior pies (my mother-in-law's cherry pie comes to mind), but it would be a strange occurrence for us to say "no" to a slice of pie. If you're constantly craving pie, today is the day to make your own to devour or to share with a pal if feeling generous.

Maple Bourbon Pecan Pie

There’s nothing more Kentucky than bourbon, except when you add that sweet nectar of the gods to a pecan pie. We use Medjool dates, coconut sugar, and organic maple syrup for a healthier spin on this classic pie, but don’t let that put you off. Our decadent pecan pie is as rich and sweet as the kind Mamaw used to make. Debate how to say pecan (p'cahn or pee-can) while devouring this delicious dessert.

Grandma's Peanut Butter Pie

This creamy, dreamy Peanut Butter Pie is sweet and easy to put together. Buy a store-bought graham cracker crust or make your own—either way, this dessert will turn into a go-to for annual Pi Day celebrations. Creamy peanut butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese, and whipped topping are the only ingredients and make a stellar dip if placing the mixture into a pie crust just seems like too much work. Change it up by swapping out the graham cracker crust for a chocolate crust and drizzle with chocolate sauce.

French Silk Pie

French Silk Pie is a decadent treat for chocoholics. Smooth and creamy, French Silk Pie won’t fulfill your francophile fantasies, but it will indulge your sweet tooth. An American recipe invented in the '50s, French silk pie has a gorgeous layer of chocolate mousse on top of a homemade crust. Garnish this sweet treat with homemade whipped cream and shaved chocolate.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Chocolate pie crust cradling a peanut butter chocolate ganache filling and drizzled in dark chocolate and mini chocolate chips has elevated the run-of-the-mill Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie. To start, make the chocolate crust, which is a mixture of cocoa powder, flour, salt, sugar, and butter. The crust will take about 10 minutes to pre-bake. Next, make the peanut butter filling and chocolate ganache. Although this pie is a bit more involved than our previously mentioned peanut butter pie, it will be well worth the wait!

Key Lime Pie

key lime pie

The official Florida state pie, Key Lime Pie is a tart, sweet, refreshing dessert. So what's the difference between key limes and regular limes, you ask? Originally from the Florida Keys, key limes are smaller, yellow, and more aromatic.

Balanced, creamy, and smooth filling in a yummy graham cracker crust makes this pie perfect for a light summer treat. It's also a superb dessert to make for Pi Day!

Lemon Meringue Pie

Flaky golden crust, velvety smooth filling, and fluffy, heavenly meringue are the components of a lemon meringue pie. Lemon Meringue Pie is a perfect mixture of sweet and sour and a delectable dessert for all seasons.

Classic Chocolate Pie

Arguably the best type of pie on the list, this mouthwatering Classic Chocolate Pie is simply divine. Use semi-sweet, dark chocolate, or a mixture of the two. Elevate it by adding meringue, which gives it some true southern charm.

Easy No-Bake Oreo Cheesecake

Easy No-Bake Oreo Cheesecake

Okay, hear us out. We all know that cheesecake isn't cake, but is it pie? While some may claim that it's a tart, cheesecake just doesn't seem to fit that bill. With only five ingredients, our Easy No-Bake Oreo Cheesecake uses crushed up Oreos in the crust and the filling.

Classic Apple Pie

Rounding out the list for our Pi day celebration is the Classic Apple Pie. While it may sound like the true American dessert, apple pie was actually invented in England. With the tartness of the Granny Smith and Fuji apples, the spiciness of the cinnamon and ginger, and the balanced sweetness, apple pie is a promising fruity dessert for everyone.
